Community, Trucks and the Midnight Sun

Few events capture summer in Fairbanks quite like the Midnight Sun Run. On June 20, more than 4,500 runners, spectators, and community members gathered for the annual 10K, which gets underway at 10 p.m. while Alaska’s summer sky is still bright.

Fairbanks Chevy GMC (opens in a new tab) has supported the event for years and once again served as the Start Line Sponsor in 2026. The dealership brought Chevrolet and GMC vehicles to the starting area, giving attendees a chance to see some of the latest models while taking part in a local tradition that brings together people from across the region and beyond.

Among the vehicles on display was a GMC Sierra 1500 diesel. For drivers who need the utility and capability of a full-size pickup, the diesel powertrain provided an opportunity to talk about fuel economy and the differences shoppers can consider when choosing between available truck powertrains.

The dealership’s presence felt at home alongside the pre-race activity, with vehicles displayed near the start line as runners prepared for the evening ahead. For Fairbanks Chevy GMC, the event continued a long-standing community partnership and offered a natural way to stay connected with local drivers outside the showroom.

The Midnight Sun Run (opens in a new tab) begins at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and winds through the community before finishing at Pioneer Park, making the dealership’s start-line presence part of one of Fairbanks’ most recognizable summer events.
