Suburban Hyundai of Troy Rolls Electric in Royal Oak’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Presented by Suburban Hyundai

Going Green on the Streets of Royal Oak
Suburban Hyundai of Troy added an electric twist to one of Royal Oak’s favorite community traditions, joining the city’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade as thousands of spectators lined Washington Avenue. Surrounded by floats, local organizations, families, and plenty of green, the dealership featured an all-electric Hyundai IONIQ model as part of the procession. The parade gave the vehicle unusual visibility: instead of sitting on a showroom floor, the EV moved directly through the heart of downtown Royal Oak, putting electric mobility in front of more than 1,000 attendees during a celebration already built around community pride.
As the Hyundai traveled the route, the vehicle itself became the conversation starter. Spectators could see the design and presence of a modern EV in a familiar, real-world setting while dealership team members shared information about electrified driving. The event supported the store’s goals around EV education and community engagement, with discussions touching on fast charging, vehicle technology, efficiency, and the growing range of electric choices available from Hyundai. For residents who had not spent time around an EV before, the parade offered a simple first introduction without requiring a dedicated automotive event.
The St. Patrick’s Day setting also gave the activation a personality of its own. “Going green” took on two meanings as an electric vehicle joined a celebration known for turning downtown Royal Oak green each March. By placing EV awareness inside a well-established local tradition, Suburban Hyundai of Troy reached families, longtime paradegoers, and community organizations alike. The result was a memorable intersection of local culture and new automotive technology—supporting the parade while introducing more Michigan drivers to electric mobility.
