BMW electric mobility continues to supply cleaner, greener, reliable vehicles that inject more joy into your life per watt of power than ever. Early on with their legendary Isetta, aka the bubble-car, BMW won our hearts with innovations that continue well beyond convention. Their legendary cars, motorcycles, and scooters are nothing short of amazing. Just when you think they ran out of ways to find fun mobility, BMW Motorrad brings a truly new vehicle that can transport your dreams into reality.

More BMW = More you
How cool would you look flying this machine around city traffic jams like a superhero? The new CE02 eBike is more fun than a hyper electro turbo skateboard.
For 2025, the new BMW CE02 is a quirky cool choice as a first-time electric motorcycle, it’s not a moped/e-Bike combo but likely the most uniquely styled city commuter you have ever seen. If you like unique ways to express yourself, try slinging your leg across the seat of the 2025 BMW CE02.

Not a proper motorcycle
BMW Motorrad cannot be convinced that the CE02 can be defined as either a scooter, moped, or eBike. They don’t even want to call it a motorcycle, but it leaves the drawing board known as a “Parkourer”.
This is the tip of the iceberg in trying to describe an undefinable machine built by a world leader obsessed with engineering. Intentionally exposed drive belts look cool right? The chubby wide (120 front and 150 rear) tires and staggered 14-inch front and 15-inch rear wheels grow the CE02’s attitudinal stance. A cast aluminum single-sided rear swingarm simultaneously connects the back tire to the pavement and the stout tubular steel double loop frame. The seat is sized for the ability to select different riding positions as needed and even handle the occasional passenger duties. CE02 can carry nearly 400 pounds of combined riders and gear.

Range, Charging, and Speed
The Highline version claims a WMTC (World Motorcycle Test Cycle) range of 56 miles. Charging from 20 to 80 percent takes 170 minutes. Top speed is 59 mph though some riders say they often hit 64, and it grabs a city street from zero to 30 mph in just shy of 3 seconds.
CE02 brings the rave to the road for you but also refuses to let you forget that this machine is all BMW. The list of features includes ASC Automatic Stability Control (putting down smooth power over various road conditions), RSC aka Recuperation Stability Control (helps control sliding during regeneration), a front wheel antilock brake, electronic immobilizer (to protect against theft), aided reverse function, TFT screen with onboard computer, USB-C port with device dock (for safer riding), and more all as standard equipment.
Ride Modes
There are two different ride modes included on every CE02. “SURF” mode brings a soft and controlled throttle response with minimal regenerative braking. “FLOW” mode ups the response and regen braking to the next level. Think hurried up, but well mannered.
The Highline package adds things like inverted forks, a pro seat, 1.5-kw charger, heated grips, Bluetooth capability, BMW Motorrad connected services, and the spiciest of ride modes known as “FLASH”. Feels like petrol power without the noise or the smell.

Electric Powered City Mobility
BMW repurposes a Valeo brand 215-watt DC alternator from the company’s standard stock parts shared with BMW 3, 5, 7 series or X5 for use as the CE02 15 horsepower electric motor which produces 40.6-foot pounds of torque married to two removable lithium-ion battery packs.
A low 29.5-inch seat height and a 291-pound dry weight gives the CE02 nimble handling agility to extend your urge for urban adventure. BMW explains the CE02 drive system like this: “Torque is transmitted from the synchronous motor on the right-hand side of the vehicle via a toothed belt to an intermediate shaft. From there, another toothed belt on the left side takes over the function of the secondary drive to the rear wheel. This sophisticated construction ensures the best possible center of gravity for neutral handling.”
Plus, the regenerative braking is so well sorted that most riders seldom have a need to use their friction brakes at all.

The above graphic is a contrast between standard and Highline package models. The basic model starts at around $7,600, while the Highline can be yours for $8,500 plus destination charges.
The CE02 may be found at your local BMW dealer.
