Do hybrid cars get federal tax credit?

No federal clean-vehicle purchase credit is available for a hybrid or plug-in hybrid acquired after September 30, 2025. Conventional hybrids did not qualify for the former federal clean-vehicle credit, and the federal credits that could apply to eligible plug-in hybrids ended for vehicles acquired after that date.

State, local, utility, manufacturer, and dealer incentives may still be available and can vary by location and vehicle. If you acquired an eligible plug-in vehicle on or before September 30, 2025 under the IRS acquisition rules, you may still be able to claim the former credit when the vehicle is placed in service.
