In a recent deal, LG Energy Solution will be getting a whopping $1.4 billion dollars in an EV battery order from the famous German automaker. The seven-year battery supply deal will make sure Mercedes has battery power for its electric vehicles through 2035.

The spendy bill will take care of Mercedes-Benz EVs aimed at North America and Europe to ensure MB won ‘t run out of electricity for its luxury wonder wagons. It is the second order this year between LG and Mercedes. Back in September, LG Energy Solution inked a deal with Mercedes to supply specific 32-gigawatt-hour batteries.

The carmaker says it has big plans for future EVs including a new CLA EV model utilizing Mercedes’ 800-volt Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA). The CLA EV is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in the first quarter of 2026 followed by its GLC with EQ Technology by the end of next year.

Those are just two of fifteen new or totally refreshed EV models that Mercedes is planning to roll out in the next few years. It tells us this will amount to the biggest product launch in Mercedes history. The new deal with LG Energy Solution is poised to make sure all those amazing new Mercedes electric vehicles will have their battery needs met.

The big MB deal is just one of many being inked for LG. It also is developing lithium manganese-rich (LMR) battery cells for General Motors to be used in future GM electric SUVs and pickup trucks. Yet another $4.3 billion is coming from Tesla for LG’s lithium-iron phosphate energy storage batteries.
