Mercedes-Benz Launches New EQE Lineup

We recently had the opportunity to drive the amazing Mercedes-Benz EQS fully electric four-door luxury sedan. It truly blew us away but so did the $107,400 MSRP price tag. Now the venerable automaker is coming out with a more sedate and lower priced sedan in its EQE. It’s smaller but just as distinctive as its big brother and is a little easier on the pocketbook at an estimated MSRP starting at $75,950.

The look is elegant and refined as you would expect from Mercedes, the interior is spacious with luxurious styling cues, and the new Hyperscreen touchscreen doesn’t stick out like taping a laptop to your dash as in the Tesla Model S. The Hyperscreen extends the full length of the dash and looks like it belongs there.

With a 90.6-kWh battery pack in the 350+, Mercedes predicts that driving range will be 305 miles before it needs a charge, and when it does, DC Fast Charging will get you from a 20 percent to an 80 percent charge in about 30 minutes. The EQE 350+ will be first out of the gate with a single rear-mounted electric motor offering 288 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. Zero to 60mph will happen in about five and a half seconds. A two motor all-wheel drive version will be coming soon called the EQE500 that will bring you 402 electrified horses.

Even in base trim, the EQE is a Mercedes through and through, including a wireless smartphone charging pad, in-dash navigation, heated power seats, and a 15-speaker Burmester sound system that places you right in the orchestra pit, all as standard. Driver assist wonders include forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Add the Executive Trim package to include adaptive cruise control and many other high tech miracles.

Both the EQE350+ and the EQE500 are available with a cool rear-wheel drive steering system and air suspension for incredible maneuverability and a very smooth ride. Other options include four-zone climate control, a head-up display, and front doors that open and close automatically.

As Mercedes says, “Progressive power electrifies a tradition of never standing still.” The EQE is poised to keep you at the forefront of style and comfort in a world that is becoming ever greener.
