Do hybrid cars need oil changes?

Yes. A conventional hybrid or plug-in hybrid still has a gasoline engine, so it needs engine oil and filter changes at the intervals specified by the manufacturer. The exact schedule can vary by model, mileage, operating conditions, and the vehicle’s oil-life monitoring system.

Hybrids also need routine tire, brake, fluid, filter, and other inspections. Regenerative braking can reduce friction-brake wear, but it does not eliminate normal maintenance.
