Caddy’s Expanding EV Lineup

General Motors’ luxury brand Cadillac increased U.S. sales in 2024 by 8.8-percent due to the success of its new Lyriq all-electric, sophisticated crossover SUV. It expects further grown by launching the new Escalade IQ and up-coming Optiq entry-level crossover EV. Altogether, Caddy will have five different EVs on the market by the end of this year.

The automakers recently announced that one in three of the vehicles it sells this year in America will be all-electric, up from 18-percent last year. The Cadillac Lyriq will be followed this year by the three-row Vistiq and a high-end, hand-built, custom-commissioned Celestiq. The new Escalade IQ is likely to do very well as will the smaller Optiq crossover.

“The momentum is really there,” says Cadillac’s Director of Marketing, Brad Franz. “We’re going to ride that momentum.” Franz told the automotive press that Cadillac is dedicated to growing the EV business while also selling luxury vehicles with gasoline engines.

Cadillac’s EV Momentum: Building Trust and Expanding the Brand

As such, according to Franz, Caddy is targeting EVs to make up 30- to 35-percent of its domestic sales in 2025. Of the 16 million or so vehicles sold last year, EVs made up nearly ten percent. Future sales will be determined primarily by customer demand. “Our EV portfolio will complement our gas power side of the portfolio and bring new customers to the brand,” Franz explains.

The hope is that Cadillac will become the top-selling luxury EV brand in the country. “Optiq and Escalade IQ are going to ramp up very fast,” Franz says. “We’re taking everything that Escalade means today in the marketplace and now offering it as an EV halo that customers will recognize and trust.”
