GM EV Sales Soar 115% Year-Over-Year
General Motors recently announced that it achieved another monthly sales record for electric vehicle sales in July here in America. The automaker sold more than 19,000 EVs in that month, up over 115 percent from the same period last year.
Equinox Leads the Pack
The Chevrolet Equinox EV led the way with more than 8,500 vehicles sold in July, the best sales month ever for the Chevy crossover. In fact, that marks the most sales ever for a non-Tesla EV here in America.
Incentives Drive Late-Summer EV Buying Rush
We should see hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicle sales continue to boom over the rest of the summer. This is in part due to the end of the federal EV tax incentives that will take place on September 30th of this year. Many buyers are lining up to get up to $7,500 off the cost of a new EV or up to $4,000 off on a used EV before the September 30th deadline.
EV sales are predicted to rise in August to around 8.5 percent of auto sales. General Motors says that its EV sales continue to grow and that the Equinox offers the perfect platform for eager electric car buyers.
Equinox EV: Range, Performance & Charging Specs
The front-wheel drive five-seater SUV offers 319 miles of EPA estimated range. The all-wheel drive version brings 300 peppy horsepower getting you from zero to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds. When using a Level 3 DC Fast Charger, Chevrolet says you can add 70 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
Every Equinox EV comes with an 11-inch digital gauge display and a big 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen. Standard driver assist features include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist. GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving system is also available.
Competitive Pricing and Market Impact
Prices for the Equinox EV begin with an affordable MSRP of $34,995. This cool and clever crossover is one of the reasons that General Motors became America’s number 2 seller of electric vehicles last year. GM’s sales for EVs are up more than 100 percent in the second quarter of 2025. Pretty amazing!
