In what could be the greatest innovation in the real world charging of electric cars in America, the iconic WAFFLE HOUSE chain of diners has announced it will be installing super quick Level Three DC Fast Chargers at its over 2,000 Waffle House diners across the southeast.

Yes, it’s true. Soon you’ll be able to get a cup of coffee and sticky syrup drenched waffles while charging up your EV. Known for its friendly atmosphere, pecan waffles and steak and eggs, the restaurant chain started in 1955 when two Georgia neighbors Joe Rogers and Tom Forkner decided to open a 24-hour diner for locals.

If you're new to EVs or unsure how fast charging works, our DC fast charging guide breaks it down clearly.

As Waffle House restaurants expanded throughout the south, the down-home diners with the bright yellow signs became a hub for truckers and late-night diners, known for being always open and available just off major freeways for easy access. Today, there are over 2,000 Waffle House restaurants in 25 states open 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Because they are always open, what better place to hop off the highway and get some much-need fuel for yourself and a charge-up for your electric vehicle?

Beginning in 2026, BP Pulse will be equipping every Waffle House across the land with 400 kW Level Three DC Fast Chargers fitted with both CCS and Tesla’s NACS charging connectors. Each participating Waffle House will offer six BP Pulse charging bays for your convenience. As of this writing, there are already over 8,000 BP Pulse chargers online at various retail locations in 46 states.

“Adding an iconic landmark like Waffle House to our growing portfolio of EV charging sites is such an exciting opportunity,” says BP Pulse head honcho Sujay Sharma. “We are building a robust network of ultrafast chargers across the country, and this is another example of third-party collaborations enabling access to charging co-located with convenient amenities for EV drivers.”

Or, as Waffle House founder Joe Rogers was famous for saying, “We aren’t in the food business. We’re in the people business.” Soon, I can charge up my EV while filling my belly with a Waffle House sausage, egg, and cheese grits bowl and a slice of pecan pie! Only in America.
