So far this year, America’s EV charging market is on the move in really positive ways. The ability to charge your electric vehicle is growing by leaps and bounds from coast-to-coast, making it faster and easier to top off your EV battery with electrons.

According to Insideevs.com, EV charging networks in the U.S.A. are about to skyrocket! Apparently, such companies as ChargePoint, EVgo, and Tesla are leading the way in creating new fast charging ports across the country and have reached record levels so far in 2025.

Quick Specs

16,700 new DC fast charging ports in 2025

🔌 60,000+ Level 3 charging ports currently in operation

📈 20% YOY increase projected through 2027

🔋 63% of new chargers at 250 kW or greater

☕ Enhanced amenities at charging stations (WiFi, food, restrooms)

Enhanced Charging Experience

These new charging facilities are bigger, deliver more power, and offer ways to entertain drivers and families while charging up. That means the quality of using DC Fast Charging is improving. Rather than stopping for a charge only to find broken equipment, overcrowded stations, and difficulty in using and paying for the service, new charging stations come complete with all the amenities that travelers enjoy.

We’re talking about clean and safe stations with ultra-fast chargers, sparkling restrooms, free WiFi, and even convenience stores filled with a variety of food, drink (including good coffee), and more.

Rapid Expansion Confirmed by Paren Report

Charging data company Paren, recently released a report stating that the development of new fast charging facilities is on record pace this year. America is apparently on track to add 16,700 public Level 3 DC Fast Charging ports by the end of this year. That is about 2.4 times the number of ports added in 2022. According to the report, if this pace continues, we will have over 100,000 available fast charging ports in use by 2027.

Paren’s Chief Analyst Loren McDonald tells us, “Despite the pause of the federal tax incentives for EVs, 2025 will be a record year for fast charging deployment.” McDonald further speculates that, “Our estimate is for a nearly 20 percent year-over-year increase in new ports.”

A big part of this growth comes thanks to companies such as Mercedes-Benz High Power Charging, Ionna, BP Pulse and Walmart for providing new and better charging stations for convenient use. You’ll also notice that new charging stations will be more standardized to include ten stalls that deliver 350 kilowatts of maximum power.

It’s interesting to note that 63 percent of new charging ports that went on-line in the second quarter of 2025 were capable of delivering 250 kilowatts of charging power or more, up 47 percent from the first quarter.

Current State of U.S. EV Charging

As of this writing, America has 11,687 Level 3 DC Fast Charging stations up and running, offering about 60,000 ports. And the speed of new charger deployment is improving too. The report states that Tesla, ChargePoint, and EVgo is leading the charge with 4,242 new charge ports added to 784 stations during the second quarter of 2025, up 23.3 percent over the previous quarter.

When it comes to deploying new EV charging stations, Tesla is on the top of the heap, opening 40.2 percent of new fast charging ports between April and June of this year. Electrify America came in second place with 7.9 percent of new chargers, and ChargePoint is third with 6.9 percent of new chargers on the roads.

According to Paren’s Loren McDonald, many EV charging companies are building ahead of demand for the future of electrification. “If you look at Ionna, Mercedes-Benz, BP Pulse, Walmart, these big companies have all been very public about their plans to open thousands of fast charging stations between now and 2030,” McDonald told Insideevs.

“They’re full steam ahead on that and sticking to those goals regardless of what happens with EV sales, tariffs, the loss of tax credits and all that.” He concluded by saying, “They have these very concrete plans and they’re moving forward with those.” That’s good news for us all.
