A Troy dealership brought public fast charging on site, with placement designed to help customers and keep EV test drives ready without the usual scramble.
In early January, Suburban Buick GMC of Troy opened its own185 kWh public charging stations through Future Energy. Rather than placing thechargers in a back lot, the dealership took a more strategic approach,considering how the installation could support not only its customers, but alsoneighboring dealerships throughout the area. This forward-thinking placementreflects a broader commitment to accessibility and operational efficiency aselectric vehicle adoption continues to grow.
Dane Tocco, General Manager, evaluated both anticipatedpublic usage and the time dealerships require to maintain adequate chargelevels for vehicle test drives an operational reality that is often overlooked,yet creates a significant logistical burden for dealerships nationwide. Thetime required to charge vehicles can directly influence staffing needs,scheduling, and overall showroom efficiency. “Providing supercharging doesn’tjust benefit our customers,” Dane noted, “it improves the experience and operationalflow across all of our sister stores.”
