How much does public charging cost?
Public EV charging prices vary by network, location, charging speed, membership plan, and local electricity rules. Some stations charge by the kilowatt-hour, while others may add session, parking, or idle fees.
As a general planning range, GreenCars’ charging-cost guide cites roughly $0.20 to $0.40 per kWh for public Level 2 charging and about $0.30 to $0.65 per kWh for DC fast charging. Actual prices can be outside those ranges, so check the station screen or charging-network app before you plug in. Fast charging is usually more expensive than home charging, but it is designed to reduce time on longer trips.
