Blaze your own trail
Dylan Brown of New Castle, Colorado and his dad Rick have spent a bunch of bonding time in the saddle of traditional dual-purpose motorcycles. They were always wrenching on smelly, aging dirt bikes that can leak gas and oil all over the place. Not to mention the noise and pollution.
Those needy Honda engines screamed for attention after nearly every ride. Time on the trail was not happening as often as they would have liked during the pandemic, but the cleaner air we all gained from giving the environment that “Covid break” from petrol power was unavoidably amazing. Dylan considered combining a desire for sustaining these environmental gains with his hopes to do more trail riding and his vision for the Terra Bike was born.

Dylan planned to “simplify the motorcycle” by researching every eBike available on the market. He ordered a Stealth Bomber frame from a Chinese company and started making revisions to it. One of the inherent problems with mail-order off-road bikes is that they are generally illegal for use on U.S. National Park trails and roads. He began working right away to make sure his eBikes passed all necessary rules and regulations to attain VIN numbers so they can be registered and insured.
GreenCars interviewed Dylan to take a deeper dive on the creation of Terra Bike. Dylan told us, “Designing and building an entirely new motorcycle in the U.S.A. is a major undertaking.” He says, “There is more than one element that really sets Terra Bike out in front of any other electric powered dual-purpose motorcycle.”
Terra Bike can tackle the toughest roads and trails while providing clean electric travel. The big 7-inch LED Headlight, taillight and indicators keep you safe and seen. Every Terra Bike is a VIN equipped, true D.O.T. compliant M1 class motorcycle. An American company provides the 72-volt battery, the robust frame has been vibration tested for over 300,000 cycles, and the Kenda 19 x 3.5-inch tires are ready to take on any trail.
In fact, all the components of the Terra Prime are trail proven and D.O.T. compliant as well. It features 2200 mm of front suspension travel and nearly 200 mm for the back tire. Unlike many off-road machines, there is a lack of plastic parts and we like that.
The Terra Bike you order today is the same machine Dylan uses and abuses for unbeatable fun on his favorite West Coast trails. Watch him rip on his Terra Bike at one of the most scenic and fun trails, Rabbit Valley number 8.
Fun on Tap
A 7-inch LCD display keeps you aware of battery condition, range, typical telemetric data, and reminds you which of the four ride modes is selected. You can choose ECO mode with chill, city friendly acceleration and a class 2 compliant, 28-mph top speed. There is a CITY mode with a bit more aggressive acceleration and a 38-mph limit. More experienced riders may feel at home with the DIRTY setting, yielding a 55-mph top speed and truly impressive torque. The LUDICROUS setting is not for first timers. It provides true sport mode with highest torque and speed capabilities and insane acceleration on tap.
Stand over height is only 32-inches. There is a reverse gear to help during low-speed maneuvers like parking, but there are no forward gears to shift. The eBike comes with a two-year warranty on the chrome moly frame and battery enclosure, and one-year on the motor, controller and electronics.
Terra Prime is currently available in three compelling color schemes. Choose from Dusk Rider with a camel brown seat, blue frame and white rear suspension spring; Forest Rider with an army green frame, camel seat and yellow spring; or the most popular Night Rider with black frame and seat and white spring.
More about riding and less about wrenching
Dylan drew on plenty of practical real-world experience to build Terra Prime. Top shelf components have been carefully selected for reliability, even the brake pads, which Dylan says should last as long as the motorcycle.
The Terra Prime off-road eBike is available now. Visit terrabikes.com for more information.
