New Truck, Same Mission

The Trail Boss trim didn't lose its mission in the move to the Silverado EV. Like its gas-powered counterparts on the Silverado and Colorado, the Silverado EV Trail Boss is meant for legitimate off-roading.

To achieve this, Chevrolet made several changes to the standard Silverado EV. The Trail Boss rides two inches higher than the base truck, providing better ground clearance to bound over rocks or other off-road obstacles. Chevrolet also tuned the Trail Boss’s coil suspension with a hydraulic rebound control system to provide a smoother ride over rough surfaces. The trim comes standard with 35-inch all-terrain tires for maximum off-road traction.

Hardware isn’t the only thing boosting the Trail Boss’s off-road ability. It has a trim-exclusive Terrain mode that unlocks sharper four-wheel steering, providing additional control for the driver when performing low-speed off-road maneuvers in tight spots.

Sidewinder mode is included in the Trail Boss trim. First introduced on the Silverado EV RST, it allows the truck to drive diagonally at low speeds by turning all four wheels in the same direction, further boosting the Trail Boss’s maneuverability.

Trail Boss Looks the Part

In addition to a higher ride height and knobby tires, Chevrolet has bestowed the Silverado EV Trail Boss with a revised front fascia. It's more than just for looks; the Trail Boss’s new nose improves the truck’s front approach angle to clear larger obstacles without dragging its bumper. And in case you do find yourself a little too far off the beaten path, the Trail Boss’s new front end also contains a set of red recovery hooks.

Other exterior features of the off-road truck include Trail Boss badging, a unique set of 18-inch wheels, and the option for Chevy’s Multi-Flex Midgate, which provides additional flexible storage in the truck’s bed.

Off-Road Muscle

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss will be available in two powertrain configurations: Extended and Max.

The Extended version of the Trail Boss offers 625 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque from its dual-motor setup. Thanks to its smaller and, therefore, lighter battery pack, it’s the most capable hauler in the Trail Boss line. Chevy says a Trail Boss in Extended form has a max payload capacity of 2,100 pounds and can tow up to 12,500 pounds. The Extended battery pack gives the Trail Boss an estimated range of 410 miles, and charging can be done at speeds of up to 300 kilowatts.

The truck's Max variant boasts an impressive 725 horsepower, though torque is unchanged at 775 lb-ft. Its range is estimated at 478 miles, and the Max battery pack can accept charging speeds up to 350 kW. When plugged into a Level 3 DC fast-charger capable of those speeds, Chevy says the Trail Boss Max can replenish 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

Using a Level 2 240-volt charging source, either version of the Trail Boss adds 37 miles of range per hour.

The Silverado EV Trail Boss can also send electricity in the other direction. It’s available with up to 10.2 kW of off-board power, so you can plug in electrical devices no matter where your adventure takes you.

Tech-Laden Truck

Despite its rough and rugged demeanor, the Silverado EV Trail Boss offers many advanced technologies. Chief among them is Chevy’s Super Cruise hands-free driving system, which has been enhanced for the new model year with Google Maps integration. The truck’s adaptive cruise control system has also been updated to adjust speed to match posted limits.

When you want to take driving into your own hands, the Trail Boss is equipped with Chevy’s Wide Open Watts mode. This setting, referred to as WOW, unlocks the Silverado EV’s maximum horsepower and torque for rapid acceleration.

The Trail Boss gets the Silverado EV’s panoramic screen system, which consists of an 11-inch digital gauge cluster and a 17.7-inch infotainment screen.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing for the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss starts at $72,095 for the Extended battery model and $88,695 for the Max battery setup. Both prices include a mandatory $2,095 destination charge. The 2026 Silverado EV lineup, including the Trail Boss, will land in Chevy showrooms this summer.
