Roomy Where It Counts
The EV3 is a compact crossover that runs just a couple of inches shorter than the first-generation Kia Seltos, the Mazda CX-30, and the Nissan Kicks, although it actually has a longer wheelbase than any of them. But being smaller doesn't mean it's less roomy. Thanks to its electric architecture pushing the wheels out toward the corners, the EV3 feels surprisingly big inside. It measures 169.3 inches long, 72.8 inches wide, and 61.4 inches tall, with a 105.5-inch wheelbase.
From a design perspective, the EV3 is clearly the little sibling of the EV9 three-row crossover. It has a very similar look, with vertical lights front and rear and chiseled fender arches. The front door handles are flush with the sheetmetal, while the rear handles are partially hidden in the black window surrounds.

The EV3 comes with an NACS charging port, and Kia put it on the right front fender. This will make it easier to charge at Tesla Supercharger stations, which tend to have short cables that often don’t reach if the port isn't on the left rear or right front of the vehicle.

Familiar in All the Right Ways
Anyone who's been inside a recent Kia will be right at home here. The EV3 uses the same 30-inch diagonal sheet of glass across the dashboard that debuted in the EV9. There's a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a 5-inch climate control display between them. The slightly squared-off steering wheel gives a clear view of the gauge cluster, but it does partially block the climate screen. Fortunately, the most-used controls for temperature and fan speed are physical rockers below the infotainment display.
Between the manual vents in the center stack, you'll find a roller dial for volume and a row of buttons for home, maps, media, search, and settings. The center console has a wireless charging pad and three USB-C ports. The gear selector and start/stop button sit on a fixed stalk to the right side of the steering column.
We don’t have full interior dimensions yet, but the rear seat of the EV3 feels considerably roomier than some slightly larger gas-powered competitors. At 5-feet-10-inches, I easily fit behind myself with several inches to spare for my knees and my head isn’t touching the ceiling. Cargo space comes in at 26.1 cubic feet with the rear seat up and 56.5 with it folded. There’s also a small 0.9-cubic-foot frunk, enough to hold a charging cable and any adapters you might need.
Pick Your Power
To keep the price affordable, the EV3 uses a 400-volt version of Hyundai Motor Group's 800-volt e-GMP architecture. There are five trim levels: Light, Wind, Land, GT-Line, and GT. The entry-level Light trim comes with front-wheel drive and a 58.3-kilowatt-hour battery good for a manufacturer-estimated 220 miles of range. The other trims get a larger 81.4-kWh battery, with the Wind and Land available in either front-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive. The front-drive models with the bigger battery can get up to 320 miles of range, according to Kia.
If you want the bigger picture on where this design language came from, our EV9 look shows the family resemblance clearly ➜
Every trim gets a 201-horsepower front motor, with front-drive models hitting 0-60 mph in under 7.5 seconds. Add the rear motor for all-wheel drive, and the Wind, Land and GT-line trims produce 261 horsepower, while the GT gets a bump to 288 horsepower.
Charging and One-Pedal Driving Updates
The 400-volt architecture means charging isn't as exceptionally speedy as Kia's pricier EVs, but it's still reasonably quick. The smaller battery will get from 10 to 80 percent charge in about 29 minutes, around 10 minutes slower than an EV6. The larger battery adds roughly two more minutes. The EV3 is equipped with Plug&Charge, so when you're connected to a compatible charging station, it will just start charging, without tapping a card or using an app.
If the charging side still feels fuzzy, this charging basics guide breaks down what owning and plugging in actually looks like ➜
Current-generation Kia and Hyundai EVs feature the company’s i-Pedal one-pedal driving system. There are four levels of regeneration, but only the top setting, Max mode, brings the car to a full stop. Until now, the car has never remembered your settings between drives. You'd have to tap the paddle on the left-side of the steering wheel every time you started up. With the EV3, Kia has finally fixed that with i-Pedal 3.0. It remembers your last setting and adds one-pedal driving in reverse.
The current e-GMP-based EVs offer vehicle-to-load capability, which allows them to export power from the charging port. The EV3 expands that to full vehicle-to-home capability. When paired with a compatible Wallbox bidirectional charger, the EV3 can actually send power back to your home during peak energy demand periods, reducing energy usage.
Price and Availability
The 2027 Kia EV3 is expected to go on sale in the U.S. in late 2026. Full pricing hasn't been announced yet, but it should be the most affordable EV in Kia's lineup, and it's likely to be competitive with other affordable options currently available.
